CVS Caremark and Walgreens Announce New NEtwrok Pharmacy Agreement PDF Print E-mail

June 18, 2010

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is pleased to announce that Walgreens and CVS Caremark have come to terms on a new agreement that will keep Walgreens in the CVS Caremark retail pharmacy network. The joint press release announcing this agreement can be viewed on the Caremark website

With both companies reaching this mutual solution, Walgreens retail pharmacies will not be dropped from the CVS Caremark retail pharmacy network on July 9, 2010, as previously reported. This new contract provides enhanced network stability and eliminates any current or long-term disruption for BlueCross members that would have been affected by the termination of Walgreens retail pharmacy contract with CVS Caremark.

BlueCross members can continue to fill prescriptions at any Walgreens retail pharmacies, as well as the other 64,000 pharmacies in the CVS Caremark national network.  For those BlueCross members that have transferred their prescription from a Walgreens pharmacy to another pharmacy in the CVS Caremark network, they can leave their prescription at the new pharmacy or are welcome to transfer it back to a Walgreens pharmacy.
